Design and Aesthetics of the Ducati Streetfighter V4S 2023
The Ducati Streetfighter V4S 2023 is a true work of art that exudes a raw and aggressive presence. Its muscular lines, sharp angles, and aerodynamic shape make it stand out from the crowd. The minimalist design approach showcases the bike’s mechanical components, giving it a distinctive look that is both modern and timeless. The LED headlights, integrated turn signals, and carbon fiber accents further enhance the overall aesthetic appeal of this street warrior.\
You might not immediately notice the changes Ducati has made to the 2023 Streetfighter V4, but the company has followed the same path as the Panigale V4 it’s based on did a year ago. This includes making changes to the ergonomics, chassis, and electronics, as well as introducing a new top-of-the-line SP2 version to replace the old SP. As in the past, the range begins with the straightforward Streetfighter V4, which is essentially a stripped-down Panigale V4 with straight bars instead of clip-ons.
In the middle of the lineup, there’s the Streetfighter V4 S, which gains electronic Öhlins suspension and Marchesini forged wheels. At the top of the line, the Streetfighter V4 SP2 adds features such as a fuel tank, a dry clutch, carbon wing and mudguard, carbon fiber wheels, Bremboma R brakes, and its production number embossed on the bars (although it’s not actually a limited edition).
Engine and Performance of the Ducati Streetfighter V4S 2023
At the heart of the Ducati Streetfighter V4S 2023 lies a beastly 1,103cc Desmosedici Stradale V4 engine that pushes out an astonishing 208 horsepower and 123 Nm of torque. This powerplant is derived directly from the MotoGP race bikes, delivering mind-blowing acceleration and a top speed that will leave you breathless. With its precise throttle response and seamless power delivery, the Streetfighter V4S offers an unrivaled riding experience that is both exhilarating and addictive.
The Streetfighter recently lost its position as the world’s most powerful unfaired bike with the launch of BMW’s new M 1000 R. Unfortunately, Ducati’s updates for 2023 don’t address that situation. However, the difference between the Streetfighter V4 and the M 1000 R is only a fraction of a percentage point. Regardless of which version of the Streetfighter V4 you choose, it produces a claimed 153kW, which is equivalent to 205bhp (although Ducati claims 208 ‘hp’, it is using the metric horsepower rating that is more commonly referred to as ‘PS’ in German).
In comparison, the new M 1000 R produces 154kW (206.5hp or 210PS), but it is unlikely that anyone would notice that difference without sophisticated telemetry. However, if you are determined to win the debate for maximum on-paper power, there is a way to do it with the Streetfighter. By choosing the SP2 version with its dry clutch, you can use the new Shell oil developed with Ducati for the latest Panigale V4 R superbike. This oil reduces internal engine friction by 10%, resulting in a power increase of ‘up to 3hp’. However, this oil cannot be used in the lower Streetfighter models due to its race-bred additives, which would cause issues for oil-bath clutches.
The most significant changes for all versions of the Streetfighter V4 come in the form of updated electronics. There are now four engine modes: Full, High, Medium, and Low. Full mode provides maximum performance in all gears except first gear. In High and Medium modes, the ride-by-wire is mapped for each of the six gears, while in Low mode, peak power is reduced to 165hp and throttle response is softened. Additionally, a new ‘Wet’ riding mode has been introduced for 2023, and the engine brake control (EBC) has been upgraded to Ducati’s ‘EVO2’ software, which provides gear-by-gear maps in three possible modes. Finally, the Ducati Quick Shift (DQS) has new software to improve gear changes, and the cooling fan software has been enhanced to prevent heat from reaching the rider during low-speed operation.
Normally, when we attend a world press launch, especially for an updated model at a track-only event, we expect the manufacturer to add more horsepower or inject more torque. However, in this case, the power and torque curves remain the same as the previous model, and I’m not complaining. Even if Ducati’s immensely powerful Streetfighter V4 S had been slightly tamed by reducing a few horses from its incredibly potent engine, I would have been equally satisfied. Describing the Streetfighter as powerful or fast is like describing Mike Tyson as level-headed; it’s an understatement. Every time you ride the V4 on the track, you know you are in for an intense workout.
During the first two sessions of this test, I used the Sport mode, short-shifting with the new super-smooth up-and-down quickshifter while getting reacquainted with the challenging Andalucía race track. Despite not pushing for a fast lap and not revving each gear to the redline, the V4 felt incredibly capable and remarkably strong.
In session three, it was time to push a bit harder in Race mode. Race mode displays the Panigale dash, which clearly highlights the active rider aids in color on the right side, along with a large gear position indicator, a huge rev counter, and an optional GPS lap timer that is addictive. Race and Sport modes have the same peak power and torque figures, with torque limited in the lower gears, but Sport mode delivers a firmer ride due to its semi-active suspension.
With the race dash activated, it was impossible not to chase a fast lap time and treat every lap like Superpole, especially since every aspect of the Streetfighter makes it feel and behave like an unfaired race bike. It loves to rev and continues to make power all the way to the redline. On Andalucia’s back straight, it was still accelerating strongly in fifth gear at 250kph. Every time I opened the throttle, it tried to rip my arms out of their sockets as I was forcefully pushed back onto the seat’s bum-stop. Meanwhile, the rider aids were illuminating the dash as the updated electronics efficiently suppressed wheelies or kept traction control in check (despite running soft Pirelli slicks in perfect conditions).
For session four, in consideration of BikeSocial readers, I bravely selected the new full-power engine mode (‘Full’), which is outside of the standard riding mode options and must be manually selected. The only thing it does is slightly limit torque in first gear; every other gear remains full power. Up until that point, I thought the Streetfighter was incredibly quick – faster than most other bikes I’ve ridden in my 25 years of testing and racing – but this took it to another level. As I’ve experienced with Ducati’s Panigale V4 on multiple track outings, an unrestrained Stradale engine is almost too much to handle. It subjects both the rider and rider aids to an intense examination and demands absolute commitment and concentration.
Selecting Full mode is undoubtedly one of the most exhilarating experiences one can have on a motorcycle, and some riders may prefer it over the more controlled engine strategies (High, Medium, and Low) when chasing that irresistible lap timer. However, if I were to ride on the track all day, I would prefer the limited torque strategies as they provide an easier time for both the rider and outstanding electronics. For regular riders, this translates into a more enjoyable and satisfying ride.
It’s worth mentioning that the rider aids are predictably excellent. As mentioned earlier, the track dash display provides live readouts of rider aid intervention, clearly indicating in full color which aids are being used. Once back in the pits, you can review your lap data, scrutinize lap times, discover your maximum lean angle and revs, top speed, and even your maximum slide measurement (yaw).
Just out of curiosity, I disabled Ducati Wheelie Control (DWC), and the Streetfighter lifted its lightweight five-spoke alloy front wheel in first, second, and third gears with just a slight twist of the throttle over crests. It was far easier and faster to ride with DWC active. The same can be said for Ducati Traction Control (DTC) and Ducati Slide Control (DSC). I did reduce DSC’s intervention from standard settings but found myself going fractionally slower. The rider aids and new track dash make everything so effortless and transform the Streetfighter into an incredibly quick and fluid track machine that would have been beyond imagination for track day enthusiasts just a couple of years ago. It may sound cliché, but riding it feels like being inside a real-life video game – chasing lap times, adjusting rider aids accordingly, and watching those lap times drop.

Chassis and Handling of the Ducati Streetfighter V4S 2023
The Ducati Streetfighter V4S 2023 features a lightweight aluminum frame that provides exceptional rigidity and stability. The fully adjustable suspension with Ohlins Smart EC 2.0 technology ensures optimal handling and comfort in various riding conditions. With its wide handlebars and aggressive riding position, the Streetfighter V4S offers excellent maneuverability and agility, allowing riders to confidently take on twisty roads or conquer the track with ease.
When it comes to the chassis, the essential recipe of the 2023 Streetfighter V4 is carried over from the previous generation, but there’s one significant change – the swingarm pivot point has been raised by 4mm, mirroring a change made to the Panigale V4 12 months ago. This change is intended to increase anti-squat and improve stability, enhancing the bike’s ability to put down power coming out of corners. It also shifts the weight distribution forward, which is claimed to help in corner entry. Other than that, the bikes are largely the same as before. The base model features 43mm Showa BPF forks and a Sachs monoshock, while the S and SP2 models both come with Öhlins kit at both ends, including NIX-30 forks and a TTX36 shock, along with Ducati Electronic Suspension (DES) EVO and an Öhlins Smart EC 2.0 control system.
The base model has cast alloy wheels, while the ‘S’ model has lighter forged alloy Marchesinis to reduce weight, as well as a lithium-ion battery that was previously exclusive to the SP model and is 1.7kg lighter than the lead-acid version. As a result, the base model’s wet weight is 201.5kg, while the ‘S’ model is 4kg lighter at 197.5kg. The SP2 model shaves off another kilo, bringing its ready-to-ride weight to 196.5kg, thanks to the use of carbon fibre wheels that largely explain the price increase compared to the ‘S’ model. By raising the swingarm pivot to reduce squat and move weight forward, Ducati has adjusted the S model’s Öhlins NIX30 forks to create a sportier and firmer feel, more akin to the Panigale, but with the same spring as the previous Streetfighter. The rider aids have also been recalibrated. The suspension remains semi-active, with manually adjustable spring preload as before.
The new 2023 Streetfighter is undoubtedly sportier than the previous model, but it’s difficult to quantify by how much. During testing, Ducati test riders were one second faster on the new model compared to the slightly heavier older bike. The standard settings in Sport mode are impressive, with the bike relatively soft on track and easy to handle, clearly designed for spirited road riding. However, when pushing to the limit among the fastest riders, it becomes apparent that Race mode is necessary. In Race mode, the power, torque, and throttle remain the same, but the semi-active suspension undergoes a dramatic shift from road to track settings. The bike feels more supported, the chassis becomes more lively and responsive, making it easier to turn and improving ground clearance. Within half a lap, you can carry even more corner speed with increased confidence.

Electronics and Technology of the Ducati Streetfighter V4S 2023
The Ducati Streetfighter V4S 2023 is an impressive motorcycle that boasts the latest and greatest cutting-edge electronics. These advanced features not only enhance the overall safety of the bike but also contribute to its exceptional performance on the road.
One of the standout features of the Streetfighter V4S is its six-axis IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit). This state-of-the-art technology allows for precise control in any situation. The IMU enables cornering ABS, traction control, wheelie control, and slide control, ensuring that the rider has complete confidence and control while maneuvering through various road conditions.
In addition to the IMU, the Streetfighter V4S is equipped with an up/down quick-shifter. This seamless gear-changing mechanism provides a smooth and effortless transition between gears, allowing riders to focus on the road ahead without any distractions.
Furthermore, the Ducati Wheelie Control EVO is another feature that sets the Streetfighter V4S apart from its competitors. This innovative system keeps the front wheel in check during hard acceleration, providing stability and control for the rider.
To cater to different riding preferences and skill levels, the Streetfighter V4S offers multiple riding modes. One of these modes is the customizable “Race” mode, which is specifically designed for experienced riders who crave the ultimate performance. This mode allows riders to fine-tune various parameters to suit their individual riding style.
Overall, the Ducati Streetfighter V4S 2023 is a motorcycle that combines advanced electronics with outstanding performance capabilities. With its impressive array of features, it offers riders a thrilling and exhilarating experience on the road.
Brakes and Tires of the Ducati Streetfighter V4S 2023
The braking system on the Ducati Streetfighter V4S 2023 is nothing short of exceptional. It features Brembo Stylema monobloc calipers that provide incredible stopping power and excellent feel at the lever. The bike is also equipped with Bosch Cornering ABS EVO, which ensures precise braking even in the most demanding situations. The Streetfighter V4S comes shod with high-performance Pirelli Diablo Rosso Corsa II tires that offer exceptional grip and stability, allowing riders to push the limits with confidence.
No major changes to be found here, but since the Streetfighter V4 already comes equipped with some of the best brakes on the market, it’s hard to make improvements. Both the base model and the S have the same setup – Brembo Monobloc Stylema M4.30 four-piston radial calipers, 330mm front discs, cornering ABS “EVO,” and a 245mm rear disc with a 2-pot caliper. The SP upgrades that kit to include Monobloc Stylema R calipers at the front. The adjustable lever provides a great feel, and the Stylemas provide excellent bite, resulting in a sublime combination.
Stability is excellent, stopping power is stupendous, and the new larger fuel tank allows for easier seated riding. The only limitation is human arm strength. The brakes are supported by excellent Cornering ABS EVO and the new Engine Brake Control EVO 2, which offers three levels of control. Now, engine braking is adjusted based on lean angle, gear, and throttle input. When you apply the brakes, there is minimal traction on the rear, resulting in less engine braking. As you release the brakes and approach the corner apex, engine braking increases based on speed, gear, and lean angle.
Comfort and Ergonomics of the Ducati Streetfighter V4S 2023
While the Ducati Streetfighter V4S 2023 is undoubtedly a performance-oriented machine, it doesn’t compromise on rider comfort. The bike features a comfortable seat with ample padding, providing long-distance touring capabilities without sacrificing agility. The ergonomics strike a perfect balance between aggressive riding posture and rider-friendly positioning, making it suitable for both short bursts of adrenaline-fueled rides and longer journeys.
In terms of comfort, the 2023 Streetfighter V4 range receives a boost thanks to the same new fuel tank that the Panigale V4 received a year ago. In addition to adding one litre to the fuel capacity, bringing it to 17kg, the new design is intended to offer better support to the rider under braking and in corners. The fuel economy remains identical to the previous version, which is not surprising given that the engine is largely unchanged, providing 37mpg (7.6l/100km). Although this was a track-only test of the new V4 S, the new fuel tank certainly provides more support on the track and should do the same on the road.
There is a new Wet riding mode that limits power to a mere 165bhp…, while throttle response and rider aids also reconfigure accordingly. As is often the case, this wet weather mode might also be useful in a town setting or for fuel efficiency. The Road mode, previously known as Street mode, limits torque in the first four gears (Race and Sport limit torque in the first three gears) and has its own level of rider aid intervention. The new quickshifter is similar to that on the Panigale and is smoother and faster than before, which should prove beneficial on the road.
Connectivity and Infotainment of the Ducati Streetfighter V4S 2023
In this modern age of advanced smart technology, the Ducati Streetfighter V4S 2023 proves to be a motorcycle that exceeds expectations. With its cutting-edge features and innovative design, this bike sets itself apart from the rest. One of the standout features of the Streetfighter V4S 2023 is its 5-inch TFT display, which provides riders with all the essential information they need at just a glance. This means that riders no longer have to take their eyes off the road for longer than necessary, ensuring a safer and more convenient riding experience. But the connectivity doesn’t stop there.
The Ducati Streetfighter V4S 2023 also offers Bluetooth connectivity, allowing riders to pair their smartphones to the bike. This opens up a whole new world of possibilities, as riders can now access their calls, messages, and even their favorite music while on the move. But it doesn’t end there – with the bike’s compatibility with navigation systems, riders can also enjoy turn-by-turn directions right on the bike’s display. This seamless integration of technology ensures that riders can stay connected and informed while enjoying every moment of their ride. With the Ducati Streetfighter V4S 2023, riders can truly have it all – performance, style, and advanced smart technology.

Price and Availability of the Ducati Streetfighter V4S 2023
The Ducati Streetfighter V4S 2023 is a premium motorcycle with a price tag that reflects its exceptional performance and advanced technology. Pricing may vary depending on additional accessories or optional packages chosen by the buyer. As for availability, it’s important to check with your local Ducati dealership as demand for this highly sought-after model may be high.
The new Streetfighter V4 range starts at £21,095 and goes up to £22,895 for the ‘S’ version, then reaches £30,595 for the new SP2 model. These numbers represent a significant increase compared to the 2022 models. The previous entry-level version was £19,395, which is £1,700 less than its replacement. The old ‘SP’ model was also £1,700 cheaper than the new ‘SP2’, priced at £28,895 for the 2022 machine compared to £30,595 for the 2023 version. The ‘S’ used to cost £21,495, making it £1,400 cheaper than its replacement.
Whether these price increases are justified by the updates will depend on your perspective. There is no doubt that the 2023 Streetfighter is a more refined machine, with noticeable improvements over the earlier model. However, these improvements are incremental rather than revolutionary and may not be sufficient reason for current owners to rush and trade in their bikes for the new version.
Verdict of the Ducati Streetfighter V4S 2023
The Ducati Streetfighter V4S 2023 is a true masterpiece that combines breathtaking performance, cutting-edge technology, and jaw-dropping aesthetics into one incredible package. Whether you’re a seasoned rider craving adrenaline or a motorcycle enthusiast looking for the ultimate street machine, the Streetfighter V4S will not disappoint. Its aggressive design, powerful engine, precise handling, advanced electronics, and rider-friendly ergonomics make it a force to be reckoned with on both the road and track. So strap on your helmet, twist that throttle, and get ready to unleash the beast within!
Ducati didn’t make significant changes to the new 2023 Streetfighter V4 S because they didn’t need to. The power and torque remain the same, and it is still incredibly fast. Excitingly, it may even be too much for a naked chassis. However, they did make some adjustments to the final setup, which now has a sportier feel compared to the previous model.
The new Panigale dash not only serves a functional purpose but also enhances the Streetfighter’s performance as a trackday tool. It makes the bike more refined, responsive, and easier to ride at a good pace. It almost feels like playing a video game as you trim your rider aids in pursuit of a faster lap time.
Ducati hasn’t just made the Streetfighter resemble a naked race bike. They have added features such as a wet-weather mode, a larger 17-litre fuel tank, and a super smooth quickshifter. These additions make the V4 even more capable and enjoyable to ride on the road.
The revised styling of the bike is hard to ignore, as is its undeniable appeal and exclusivity. However, the only drawback is the price. The base model costs £21,095, while the S model is priced at £22,895. Owning this bike requires a serious financial commitment. But if you’re looking for one of the wildest naked bikes on the market, one that can outperform superbikes one moment and serve as your daily commuter the next, then you should be prepared to dig deep into your pockets.
